The silence, the energy, the power. A lone figure strolled down the streets, humming to herself as she went. Ara never quite grasped the concept of sleeping, for her, resting was enough. She held up a hand as a car came by, blasting her with its powerful lights. She was surprised to see any humans out and about at this insane hour. Then again, what must they think of her?
She stuffed her hands into her jean pockets, kicking at a rock with her feet. How very badly she wanted to use her power. Run around, throw it, and balance it. The temptation was almost overwhelming. But Planet Earth wasn’t the most accepting of super-natural powers.
A sigh escaped her lips as the silence was once again disrupted by the roar of a car engine. What on earth could humans be doing? She chuckled at the thought. Half of them probably weren’t humans any way, just Rebmevon’s trying their best to fit into this society.
As the sun came over the horizon she yawned, surprised by how little energy she had here. At least the sun would be in full blast soon, causing her to fill with its warmth. Goodness she loved the heat.
A few people opened up their diners and little shops. Turning left sharply she walked into the breakfast buffet, taking a seat by the window. Her favorite seat in the house. “What can I get you?” An older woman said, holding her pad of paper in one hand, pen in the other. A true home? Her family back? Her planet back? For the war between her kind to be over?
“Eggs, scrambled please.”
Whistling. Footsteps. Car alarms. Yelling. Crying. Banging.
The world was such a noisy place.
It really needed to be ended.
Dante walked alone at night, as he did everything else. His long black ponytail swishing in the back as he took each step. Sometimes he wished that someone could make an invention that could block out all sound, at the touch of a button. Wouldn't that be nice.
He walked and he walked, inside cringing at each loud noise he heard, but showing no sign of response on the outside. He turned his head as he walked, witnessing all the people in their nightly routines. Such filthy miserable people. None of them had purpose, yet they continued to live on even so. It always had confused him. The world doesn't need people like these so why are they still here?
Dante felt his right hand shake in his pocket. It wanted it now. But it couldn't, not now, not yet. He would just have to let it wait. The beautiful feeling of death would have to wait for now. But he would have it soon, hopefully. Just tonight he was on his job.
Dante took the hand out of his trench coat pocket and slid it through the silky threads of his hair.
"I wonder if there are any little freaks hiding tonight, under this moon. Just waiting for me to find them, to take them, tell them it's alright, and then turn them right over to my dear partners." Dante sighed, closing his eyes, still walking.
"I really wish they would let me keep one. How nice that would be."
He then hushed himself quickly, opening his eyes to find the odd looks of people staring at him. He only smirked back, showing a little fang. They quickly fumbled with what they were doing and went off. How funny these little people were.
Dorian had quickly learned how to cease using the alarm clock quickly after he figured out its dreadful ways of screaming in your ear, forcing you to wake up. Horrible. So, he had taught himself to remember the time he would wake up that day, and he would force himself to awaken, not by the alarm clock. Now useless, it would probably sit on Dorian’s bedside, sleeping and never to awaken anyone from their sleep again.
He had forced himself to wake up this early in the morning, three AM to be exact, having a good plan for the day. He wanted to catch the sunrise, trailing up over the horizon right near the city of Keifer. Just one quick look, and the image he needed would be trapped in his mind forever, perfect for the next painting he had in mind. He was going to need more money, and he knew that if he perfected this one painting, he’d have enough for at least a little while. Hoping out of bed quickly, the young painter had begun his day, starting with his hygiene.
A quick shower later and he was cleansed, quickly moving to the small dresser in his room and pulling out some clothing. He never really cared about what he wore, though it seemed as though everyone else on this strange planet did. Caring so much for what you put on yourself was weird to Dorian, so he never really paid attention to any of the new ‘styles’ or ‘colors’ of the season. As long as it fit him, he believed that the clothing was fine (and it was hard to find comfortable clothing in the first place.) He had even decided that he would go out to eat breakfast, seeing as though he had run out of granola bars and couldn’t possibly cook anything. Besides, he had time. The sunrise wouldn’t happen for a few more hours, and sometimes something different from a granola bar was good. So out to breakfast he went. At three AM in the morning.
The sky was still pitch black, yet there were still people out. They looked dazed, probably either tired as hell or drunk. Dorian was disgusted by the way these humans usually got themselves drunk, and didn’t even understand why they did it. It’s a health risk, and it could get you killed, so why start it? He shook his head as two drunkards passed by him, not even giving a care that he was right next to them. He furrowed his brow slightly as he tried to figure out why people got themselves drunk, walking over to a nearby diner that had looked open. There were even a few people sitting down, eating breakfast themselves. How very odd, but it was fine by Dorian. At least these guys weren’t drunk.
And so he walked in, smiling at the waitress and taking a seat down right in front of the kitchen. He ordered a quick coffee, gazing around the diner to see who was there besides him. Just a few other people; a couple, one lone person sitting in the back, and a lone female. Dorian quickly realized that the girl was a Rebmevon like himself, which he thought to be nice to see another one of his kind. He flashed a quick smile to her before turning to menu, curious to see what would attract his taste today.
Ara smiled weakly to the other Rebmevon before picking at her eggs with her fork. It felt so weird to be in disguise, hide your true identity. Your life, one big lie. A soft sigh escaped her lips as the waitress dropped her coffee off, walking away without a word. These humans were so rude.
One sip was enough to see that someone hadn’t put to much thought into the ‘hot’ coffee expression. Wrapping her hands around the mug she thought warmth, sending the feeling down to her fingertips. It wasn’t long until the drink had a little bit of steam.
Sinking back into the booth, Ara took a few more sips and a few more bites. This was going to be a long day.

Kya slipped into the small resturant, sensing several other Rebmevons in the building. A feral grin crossed her features, but she quickly hid it. She slipped into the seat across from Ara. "Hey." She said, then lapsed into silence.
Dorian had noted when the other Rebmevon entered the room, making him a bit worried. Three Rebmevons in one area? Even worse, in the same diner? Something was wrong, and it was making the young Mentis worried. He watched as the one who had just entered walked over to the other girl, talking to her as though they were friends, or at least arranged for a meeting. How stupid of her? Was that girl really so dense to actually go over to her? Idiot, he thought quietly.
He turned around, ignoring them and taking a sip of his hot coffee, trying not to think of them and focusing on his task for the day. The sunrise. Right, right, forget about those two of his own species and just think of the day ahead of him. It’d all work out. To prove that he didn’t have his mind on those two, he called over the waitress, ready to order his meal that would get him through the day.
“Pancakes,” he answered simply, giving the waitress a warm smile. She took away the menu, scurrying off to the kitchen to fulfill his order. Good. Just when he was getting hungry. Good. With another sip of coffee, Dorian knew that he would probably end up at least introducing himself to those two in the end. It was a gut feeling, and he couldn’t ignore it. At least for now he could, so he simply turned to them again, getting a better look at them. Both seemed nice, at least. He gave another smile towards the both of them, nodding slightly.
Kya turned to glare at Dorian. Her eyes narrowed to slits. Shaking it off before she got really angry, Kya stood up again. /This is boring! No one wants to talk.../ She thought in her head, sighing.
A waitress bustled over, bubbly as always. Kya scowled at the her, and she shrank back. "Out of my way." Kya snarled, and stalked out.
Ara watched as the other Rebmevon left. “Umm…bye.” Yeah, what else was she going to say when she left automatically? ‘Yeah, lets be best friends when we’ve never meet before?’ She ran a hand through her hair, taking another sip of the almost empty mug.
She smiled at the Rebmevon still in the diner. Amazing how there was so few of them, yet she had never met him before. Earth was much bigger than she thought. From her old planet it had looked so small, but didn’t all things that are far away look small?
Her waitress pulled her out of her thoughts with a “Want anything else?” Ara stared up at her before shaking her head. “No thank you.” The waitress rolled her eyes before setting the check on the table. There went her tip.
Pulling out just the right amount of cash, Ara took one last sip before grabbing her bag and walking to the front desk to pay. “Did you enjoy your meal?” The overly happy cashier asked her. “Delicious.” She almost thought about saying ‘horrible, I’m never coming back’ But that would be too mean.
Dorian watched as the other Rebmevon left, raising an eye slightly. Hadn’t she just come in? Strange, maybe something was wrong, or maybe she had the same feeling he was having and wanted to leave. He should be doing that too, but he didn’t want to leave that girl by herself. Besides, he needed his breakfast. The painter wouldn’t have enough energy to do anything at all if he had no breakfast.
At that moment, he noticed that the first girl had stood up, ready to leave. He watched her intently, curious to see exactly what she was doing. She had walked over to the cash register, and it occurred to him that she was leaving as well. Great. Well, it wasn’t like they had spoken or anything, right? He didn’t even know her name… The thought was interrupted by the sound of a plate being placed down, and he looked up to see the waitress with his pancakes. He looked down at them, blinking slowly. They did smell nice, and he was hungry, but… Turning to the waitress, he smiled warmly, shaking his head. “No, no thank you. I’m actually not that hungry, forgive me.” The waitresses eyes widened as she huffed, picking up the plate and leaving him.
Dorian quickly placed some money on the counter, following the other girl out of the diner. “Wait!” he said, walking next to her. “Are you really in such a rush to go do something at three in the morning, or did I just scare you too much?” he asked, smiling slightly.
Kya stood quietly in the shadows, watching Ara and the other Rebmevon. She darted from shadow to shadow, following. Then she realized she could follow better in animal form, so she shifted to an owl. Silent as the night, with incredible eyesight and hearing, Kya floated over them.
She listened quietly, hoping to gain some insight into the best way to capture the girl. How could she get her alone?
Glancing up at the stranger next to her, Ara chuckled. “If you count walking around aimlessly, then yes I have something to do.” She stuffed her hands into her jean pockets, listening to the sounds of the early morning or late night. Depending on what mood she was in. “And no, you didn’t scare me.” She brought her voice to a hushed whisper, “It’s nice to see our kind once in a while.”
She smiled softly at him before glancing up at the owl flying overhead, how….comforting. “Now I’m not sure why one would order food, to leave it, and follow a complete stranger.” She raised an eyebrow at him. “Any ideas?”
With her feet she kicked a rock sending it further along the sidewalk, and with one hand she tucked loose strands of hair behind her ears.
Kya drifted in the slight breeze, wincing slightly as the hard clang of the rock against the sidewalk to her sensitive ears. She flapped her silent wings, and landed on a nearby rooftop, still listening to Ara and Dorian.
Dante kept walking, towards his destination. He stopped at the curb, noting the red light. As cars shot by, taking no heed of anyone, just wanting to get where they were going, and as people still walked against the red light, stupid people really, Dante reached into his other pocket. Feeling around for a bit since it was a big ass pocket, he finally clasped his fingers around the scrap of paper that had been ripped off before, and brought it out to look at it. It was the time, date, and place of where his next victim was. Handy really, he didn't know how the Government found out about these things. Probably some Rebmevon Rekart who could see through time. Dante huffed, smirking as he did so.
"Freaks..."
And now he had to go find another one, since the light had just changed back to that oh so pleasant neon green. He walked across the street, dashing away from cars that were making right turns and decided that they didn't care if they even hit the guy. People made him sick. He got to the other side and then made a left turn. Dante walked only for a little bit until he reached his destination. The Breakfast Buffet. What a stupid name for this measly little diner.
Dante walked in, receiving many stares from onlookers because of his strange wardrobe. It isn't everyday you see someone wearing a huge trench coat that reached their feat, plus someone with long black hair in a pony tail who happens to be a guy. It was suspicious, probably not the best look for someone who's under cover, but he liked it.
Now Dante knew that the freaks could sense their other freaks, so him being a human was an advantage. He looked back down to the paper again, noting the picture and name of his victim. He smirked.
"It's your lucky day, Dorian."

Kya noticed Dante as he headed the other direction, and swooped after him. A moment later, Kya emerged from the shadows, now dressed in a pair of black jeans and a red tank top. She pulled her loose hair back into a messy bun, and entered the diner behind Dante. She walked up behind him, silent as a cat. She tapped him on the shoulder.
Dante looked around the dingy little diner, looking for his prey, when he felt a tap on his shoulder. For at least one second a bazillion thoughts raced through his head.
What the hell? Who could that be? If that's some other human I'd like to turn around and slit their throat for daring to touch my shoulder. But what if it's a freak? Then I'd have to act cautios...What if it's-?....Oh just forget it, just turn around and put on your little facade. Act nicely, gentleman like, and a bit seductive. That always gets people off their track.'
Just about every move of his life he has thoughts like these. Everything to him is a show, live and improvised. No script to tell him what to do so he always must think fast and get it just right. And if it's not just right then everything crashes to the ground.
Dante turned around, and then inside felt surprised to see his partner, Kya, in the same diner as him. On the outside, of course, no such surprise, just acknowledgment. He gave a gentleman's smile and pretended to lift his imaginary hat down, people always like that he learned.
"Why my dear Kya, whatever brings you here?" Then he gave a little devilish smirk, unknown to passer byes.
"Are you hear to catch one too? You see, I'm looking for this little one." He showed her the piece of paper with the picture and name of his victim.
"You happen to see him anywhere? Hm?"
Kya smiked a little. "Of course. Do I ever show up here unless I'm hunting?" She kept her voice low. "My target is outside, as well as yours. Care to take a walk? Hunt together?" She offered, with a deadly little smile that scared the hell out of most people. Her gaze was catlike, predatory. She bared her teeth in a feral grin.
Dante smiled again, this time opening his eyes a bit, slit like a animal ready to pounce. He took Kya's arm and opened the door.
"Yes, we shall." He led her outside as he searched from the corners of his eyes for the prey. He finally caught a glimpse of his Dorian, along with another girl. He snickered, must be Kya's prey. How ironic this was, all of them together at once. Well, at least it took care of things quicker. He tilted his head to Kya, still looking at the couple from the corners. Then he whipered to her without making much movement with his mouth.
"I see them, both of them together. Like two birds with one stone. Heh." Then he put out his hand bowing, always respectful to the ladies.
"Ladies first then, dear Kya."
Dorian grinned slightly, shifting his weight to his left side to continue talking to this new girl. "Well, I could tell tht you weren't enjoying the food at all, and that mine might have a bad taste too. I'd rather starve than eat bad food," he told her. He was happy that this girl hadn't run away, or given him a weird look. Then he would've left his food for nothing. That wouldn't have been good at all.
"Walking aimlessly at three in the morning sure does sound exciting, anyway. Mind if I join you? I need something to pass the time here, since everything is so dull," he added with a shrug, taking to look around his surroundings. It was a bit chilly out--something he hadn't realized--and it was still dark. He still had time to walk before the sunrise, and it wasn't like anything was going to stop him. He had also noticed that strange man with the trench coat, and at the sight of him he bit his lip slightly.
Something didn't feel right. "Hey," he murmured, "maybe we should leave. I don't trust that guy," he told her quietly, gesturing slightly to the trench coat man. Probably a Rekart, damn him. And he was with another girl, the one who had sat down next to the girl he was talking to now. Oh god. Was she a Rekart too, though she was a Rebmevon. Traitor. He always hated these people, and couldn't understand why his kind chose to go against them. "Maybe... now," he said, taking a few steps foward, but waiting for the other to see if she would agree or not.
Ara took a glance over her shoulder at the two. Trouble was definitely brewing. Taking a step closer to him she nodded, whispering quietly “Yes, that would be a good idea.”
As they continued down the street all she could do was concentrate on warmth, fire, the blazing sun. Blasted cold weather. Out of all the days of the year, it had to be cold and dark the day that the Rekart’s decided to drop by for a visit. “If it helps….” She said finally as she quickened her pace, “my power is down, but it will still be powerful. If it comes down to a battle.”
Did she really want to fight? No. Was it probably her own fault that she’s being chased? Yes. Has she screwed up in public before? Yes. Was she going to get captured? Hell no.
Dorian was glad she had agreed as they quickly rushed down the streets, hopefully getting away from those damned Rekarts. He refused to be captrued by them, and definitely wasn't going to. Not today. Not ever.
"Oh, you actually have a power that can help us? Thank god," he said quietly, smiling sheepishly. "I got nothing. Unless, of course, I can get to their head. Then we'll be fine... it just depends on how fast they are," he added, taking a quick glance behind him. "Looks good so far," he said, but he knew that didn't mean anything. They could be anywhere, especially with that other Rebmevon with them. Hell, they could be right in front of them without the two rebels knowing it.
Oh, the life of the rebel. How fun it was. And humans really wanted this life, always on the run and never safe. Was this what they really wanted? How strange. He would switch with a human's life anyday, if he could be safe from the Rekarts. But of course, he'd keep his powers. He wouldn't be himself without them. And he knew, he definitely knew, that without his powers, his life would suck.
"As always Dante, you're always the gentlemen. Now, seeing as they're getting away, I'll slow them down so you can catch up." Slipping into the shadows, a moment later a cheetah emerged. She sprinted at top speed after the fleeing pair. Her speed as the plains cat allowed her to easily catch up to them. The cheetah lept in front, baring her fangs and growling.
A little obvious sure. But as Kya had nothing to hide since she was Rekart, she could care less.
Her fur stood on end, and her fangs were wicked sharp. Kya's tail lashed behind her, and the big cat snarled.
Dante chuckled and slowly walked over to the trapped couple. He reached into the inner pocket of his coat and pulled out an injection needle and a small tube of serum. He inserted the serum into the needle as he walked. Then stopped right in front of the prey, next to Kya. He smiled, as always to them, waving his hand in the air all the while holding the needle.
"Why hello there, it took me a while to find you Dorian, sir." He looked over to the girl, smiled and then bowed.
"And my dear lady, it seems that my partner has you on her list. Well isn't this a nice little get together. We're all here. Too bad I'm the only human. Pity really." He pushed the needle, spraying a little serum as he did so, just to show that the thing was loaded.
"Now I really would love it if you two would comply and take a little trip with us, hm?" He snickered, taking Dorian's arm.
"Since your my prey, I'll inject you first, how about it?"

Tired of the cheetah, Kya morphed into her favorite form, that of a giant black wolf. She smiled, well, as much as a wolf can smile, as her partner taunted the Rebmevon. She bared her fangs as if laughing.
In her head though, she was mentally placing barriers as she had long ago figured out how to do to protect herself from her Mentis parents. Her shields were as strong as steel, and she'd not yet meant a Mentis who could break through them.
This was definitely happening too quickly, and Dorian almost gasped in surprise at this. There they were, the two Rekarts, right in front of him. Predictably, he had been right, and they would be caught up to. But he wouldn't be captured. He was a bit surprised when the man had said his name, and was curious on how they figured that out. Then again, the Government knew everything. Figured that they knew his name, at the least.
Looking at him, he realized that the human had made no effort to hide his eyes. The fool, did he not realize what he was giving himself away? Dorian smirked slightly, taking a look in the man's eyes and letting the memories flood in. "It'll take a little bit more than just sweet words for us to reply, Dante," he hissed, narrowing his eyes slightly.
He was about to make a run for it when Dante had grabbed his arm, and Dorian's eyes widened. He knew that this serum was bad, and all though he didn't know what it would do, he didn't want to find out. He looked back at the man, and once again, found a small victory. "Well, I'd love to be injected, but I don't have the time. I have a sunrise to catch." With that, he slapped his hand against the man's forehead, searching for something important. Hm... his first capture? Must be a shame to lose. He quickly closed his eyes for a slight second as he reached inside the human's mind, taking and erasing that memory away forever. He then pulled away from him, pulling away from him and grabbing Ara's arm, beginning to spring.
"Come on! RUN!!
Dante gasped as he felt the man reach into his mind. Damn! He was a mentis! The shitty Rekarts never told him! Then as he felt the man search more, he totallly lost memory of what the fuck he was doing there. He looked around, why was he here? There was a girl and boy running away, it seemed like, from him. He looked to the side, and saw a giant wolf. Must be Kya. He shook his head, and looked at his surrounding. He was in the city, and it looked really early. Dante turned to Kya with a questioning look.
"Kya dear, what am I doing here? Why can't I remember?" Then it hit him. It must've been a mentis who did this. How else could he have no idea where he was? Then he looked to the couple escaping. They must've had something to do with this.
"Kya, are those two prey? Is that why they're running? And is one of them a mentis?" If one of them was, then would have to get violent. He smiled, thank god.
Kya barked an affrimittive. Damn! He hadn't known Dorian was a mentis, she should have thought to warn him. With a growl, she shifted into a horse. She nosed him, and with a soft nicker urged him to climb aboard her back so they could chase down the fleeing pair.
Dante had begun to worry but as soon as he saw Kya as a horse, he snickered.
"In for a chase are we? Alright then, I'm not really sure what's going on but whatever." Dante slowly climbed up, not accustomed to bare-back, and sat down on Kya's back. It all seemed a bit weird to him, but he brushed it off. He looked ahead for the two, and was thankful that they were still in sight.
"Come on Kya, let's go for a run." He steadied himself and then went inside his coat. He pulled out the serum once again, although he didn't know that, and then pulled out his trusty gun. Loading the serum into the gun he readied it with a click.
"Hm, these things do come in handy, don't they?"
She had never thought she could run any faster than she was now. It all seemed like a blur, one giant confusion of chaos. The needle, the man, the girl, Dorian. “Nice….” She took a few deep breathes, “save.”
Little flames hovered by each of her fingers, forming two fire balls. “Eat my ashes.” And they went soaring down the path with which they had just come. One hit the wall sending sparks flying, while the other kept its path straight.
“And you said your power wasn’t helpful.” She fired a few more and kept running, her hands always producing more and more flames.
Kya took off at a dead run, sprinting after the retreating figures. As the fireballs began flying towards them, she leapt over them, careful not to dislodge Dante. They slowly gained on Ara and Dorian.
Her angry neighs pierced the clear night. It would have been easier to sneak up on them, although the fun is more in the hunt. She dug in, and began to run faster.
Dorian smiled faintly, looking over to Ara with a grin. “Well, we were lucky. Thank god that guy didn’t know I was a Mentis, or else we—or at least myself—would’ve been screwed. Too bad that probably won’t happen again, since he knows what I am,” he muttered, scowling slightly.
His mouth was agape at Ara’s mastery of the Fire element; he had seen people like her on his own planet, but being away for so long and not having seen it for a while, it was pretty cool to him. “Heh, looks like you got the better end of the stick, eh? Good thing at least one of us can make cool things to throw at people,” the painter added with a grin. This was good, very good; as long as Ara’s fire kept up, they might even be able to escape!
Looking back, he saw that the girl Rekart had transformed into a horse, with the man on his back. He frowned slightly at him, turning his attention back forward. “If I had more time, I could’ve probably taken away more, but that guy… he has too much to take away. He’s pretty intense,” he admitted, wondering how one guy could have such a horrible past. He hadn’t truly seen much, but he saw enough to know that this guy could be out for revenge against anybody.
Dante positioned his gun, aiming for the freak's leg. He'd shoot the leg, not killing the guy from the impact, and the serum would do it's work. Then he'd go for the girl.
"Alright Kya, steady now girl!" And he shot the gun, careful of being exact, although that was rather hard as he was currently riding on a horse with a vengeful temper. Hopefully it would hit it's mark, and that would make it all the easier. He snickered, nobody could run from him. Nobody ever did anyway. It was all too late by that time.
"Now prepare to slow down girl..."
Kya worked on evening out her stride, making it easier for Dante to hit his target. Her run was smoother now, albet slightly slower. They still gained on the pair, almost on top of them now.
Kya loosed a vengeful nicker, although it's menacing effect was lost, and glared at the two less then 5 feet ahead.
Dorian had heard Dante talking, but he couldn't quite make out what he said. "Alright, I think if we make a left at the corner, we should be able to--" At that moment, he heard the gunshot, but it was way too late to do much about it. Thankfully, the guy's aim was off, but he was still hit. The bullet had grazed his left calf, but it was just enough to send the Rebmevon tumbling down, screaming and yelling in pain.
"FUCK!" he cried, trying to get up again. He knew that he couldn't stay on the ground for long, unless he wanted the Rekarts to get him. Realizing that he wouldn't be able to run as fast as he was before, he turned to Ara quickly, fear in his eyes. "Ara, g-go. We don't need two of us getting captured, right?" He begged and pleaded that she would go, and not be an idiot and stay with him. He tried getting up again, making an explosion of pain erupt through his leg. "Oh, shit," he whispered, turning back to the gaining Rekarts. He closed his eyes in shame, knowing that he had actually lost.
What a pickle she was in. Go and free herself, or help a fellow friend. Ara froze for a moment caught in between. “Hell no.” With that it almost seemed like a wall went up, casting flames to flow from every direction, a fire bird circled the sky. “Come on.” She said, helping him up, throwing his arm over her shoulder. “Just don’t pass out on me….” She wasn’t kidding either. She knew it was only a matter of time before they got through the wall with some secret weapon under their sleeve.
That’s when she spotted it, and knew she wouldn’t like it. Walking as quickly as gravity would allow, she walked over to the sewer lid, using almost all the energy she had left to lift it and throw Dorian in.
She let out a faint squeal of dislike as she jumped down into the damp area, closing the lid behind her. Praying they didn’t see or follow, she looked over at the outline of Dorian, and slowly made her way over to him. Gently, very gently, she placed her fingers over his lips to be quiet.
For she knew any little noise could give them away and she didn’t dare try and bring light in for fear it could be seen from above.
Yeah, real smart. Barging out of her home, steaming from the anger. A comment from her parents, it was quite rude, had just sent her into a furious state. She didn't yell, she didn't cry. She simply trudged to the door, swiftly as to not do anything brash, shutting it quietly behind her. Making sure not to wake her younger brother. The only sibling she actually liked. Now, she was walking the dangerous street in early morning. How stupid of her.
The reason she had been up so late, she hardly ever gone to bed at a decent time. She would be what most would consider a night owl. The darkness, it was peaceful though. If not eerie, but still quiet. It held something great, maybe the stars. Maybe the moon. Such wonders the universe held. Night, it hid a lot of frightening things, and revealed beautiful things twinkling merrily up at the sky. Darkness was usually a symbol for evil, but she didn't think of it that way. Evil just seemed to hide in the darkness, cowardly. Because the darkness hides things on the Earth, like evil.
She blinked back a few bottled up tears, trying to not let them escape. Her parents drove her insane. She sniffed quietly and quickly wiped a streaming tear away from her rosy cheeks.
What was she to do now? She was barely hungry, already munching on a large amount of sweets that night. Still, if it was something to do, she would probably go to a restaurant. She grumbled, kicking a stray aluminum can that blocked her path. She watched it roll as she strolled along. Only to glance up and see a inferno infront of her very eyes. "Wha...?" She began to back up. A thought flashed, terrorists? A bomb?!
She had to run now! But, she was frozen. Why couldn't she move? Frozen in fear. Her liquad gold eyes watching the flames dance and lick against the stone of the street. Oh god, this couldn't be happening.
Furious at the wall of flames, Kya shifted back into a human. She glared angerly at the flames, thinking of a way past. She'd seen them dart down the sewars, and now the only thing in the way was these blasted flames. "I'm going after them. I can go over the flames, can you stay here and do cleanup?" Without waiting for an answer, she shifted into an owl again, and soared up and over the flames. With a screech, she dove into the sewars. Landing in the tepid waters with a splash, she groaned inwardly. Disgusting. She dove under, and disappeared.

Clean-up. How nice.
Dante sighed as he watched Kya transform and chase after the prey. This really sucked, he had been enjoying the hunt and looking forward to the catch. He quickly looked around at the mess that they had created. Burnt walls, sidewalks, and thank god no signs of humans or else he would have to do a memory-erase with the other serum.
Dante snickered as he thought of the prey. They probably only thought that that was a bullet, didn't they? Naive little freaks. That was no bullet, it was a serum injected bullet, well, serum #12. It would eventually immobilize the prey and then leave them powerless for two days. Enough until they got them to the base where the prison-cell kept their powers under control. And all thanks to that little freak they captured a while back, his power was to disable all the other freaks and leave them powerless. When they found him he was homeless, parent less, and friendless. So when they captured him they took A LOT of blood, and still to this day they take some blood here, some blood there, and then inject it into prey so that it'll be easier to capture them. He sighed as he thought of the old days when it was MUCH harder to capture them without the serum.
Dante took out his phone and dialed the clean-up number. They were trained to clean-up all traces of destruction in the freaks path. Too bad that meant he had to stay there all day until they were done, just in case a human came a long and he had to wipe their memories with serum #45; blood from a certain kind of Mentis that only wipes memories. Can't do anything, which kind of sucks. He looked around after he called the group, wondering if there was anything interesting to do in the meantime, when he spotted a girl standing and staring at the sight. A civilian. A human. Crap.
The girl watched in the utter shock as the flames died down rather quickly. It didn't look like a normal fire, one that would spark from a malfunctioning device or one that would envelope a house because of a forgotten stove that hadn't been turned off. It was just a inferno in the middle of the street and it didn't seem to be coming from another building. This couldn't be a bomb either, could it? Why would the bomb go off here, in the middle of a secluded street. Where not a lot of people were. Plus, shouldn't a bomb make more noise? She didn't know much about them, but this just didn't seem like anything she had ever seen.
Finally, the flames sunk down revealing a shadowy figure. She focused her eyes more, the man gaining detail. He was in a black, flowing trench coat. With black hair pulled into a smooth ponytail.
Alaina began to take a couple steps backward, finally gaining control of her legs again. Thank god. She would simply turn and walk away, that simple. She couldn't be panicked, cause panic makes things worse. But as she prepared to turn around and walk away. She saw a look in his eyes, the look was odd, maybe it was a mix of shock and anger, but she knew that she had to run.
She turned around sharply, taking off as fast as she could run. She was scared of the man, that look in his eyes seemed to glint of a murderous aura. It scared the crap outta her. She never was more scared of a person than him, she didn't know why, but she had a gut feeling that he was incredibly dangerous. She turned a corner into an alley. Knowing she could lose the man if she turned a sharp corner and quietly slip into the shadows. Hiding. A dumpster and a few trash cans were perfect. Well, that's what she thought. Crouching behind the trash cans, she knew she was hidden by the shadows. In the complete darkness. Not many people would know that she was hiding there.
She sighed, her back to the brick wall of a old building. She rested her head on the wall. What was with this? What had she gotten herself into?
She was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time. She tended to be the unlucky sort.
Dante sighed, nothing was ever easy. Why did the civilians always have to run?
In the dark, unknownst to the girl, a dark figure was right behind her, smirking. Dante chuckled softly, sensing her fear. He could almost taste it, and it was good. Oh god he wanted to spill that red liquid, he couldn't wait any longer. The fellow Rekarts wouldn't possibly care about this simple little girl, and no one would know. He could feel that hand shake again. It wanted it, and damn well he was going to give it to it.
"Hello little girl, it seems you've got caught in quite a mess here. I guess you'll have to be taken care of." Dante snickered, he could probably take her back to his base without a fight, she was a girl afterall, and then make his art there. He was a clean person, and hated to paint in dirty places.
Alaina snapped her head upward at the man's voice. A shiver went down her spine. Knowing it had to be the guy she had just seen. Perfect. Just perfect. She was hoping that she had over reacted, that the man wasn't planning anything. But apparently he was planning something. Wait, how the hell did he get here so fast? She was a fast runner and he was standing right behind her. As if waiting for her. Scary.
"I guess you'll have to be taken care of." He said. Now that really made her want to get up and flee again. But she knew it was useless. The way he said, it sounded as if he wanted to kill. "Is there a reason why you're chasing me? What did I ever do to you?" Her voice was quiet, like usual, but still barely audible. She tried not to tremble, but she was failing. Pretty miserably. What was she going to do? If he was to really kill her and she were to never come home, her parents would simply think she'd run away. She had walked out of the house, rather angrily and her parents knew her anger, at early morning when it was still dark.
Alaina didn't wait for an answer. She stood and turned to face him, pretty quickly, and actually swung. Her fist aiming for his jaw. She had already tried running and that didn't work. Even though fighting this guy would probably be useless, it was better than giving up.
Dante smirked as the girl tried so helplessly to escape, and caught her fist easily with his hand. With his other hand he reached over and caressed her hair.
"Now now, sweety, no violence." And with that he squeezed her fingers tightly, dislocating them, but not breaking them. He leaned closer, whipering into her ear.
"You want to know why I'm doing this? Because you saw something that you really shouldn't have. And now we are going to make sure that no body else will find out." He continued caressing her hair, staring into her eyes wide with fear.
"You have very pretty eyes you know. Maybe when I'm done with you I'll keep them as a prize." At that sentance he chuckled rather loudly. He needed to keep his cool, and just wait until they got back to his base.
Alaina gasped as he caught her fist, without hardly any effort. Shuddering as he touched her hair, petting it. She didn't want him anywhere near her, and he was petting her hair. She began to struggle once more, tugging away from him. But it was useless. Oh god, what was she going to do?
She screamed rather loudly, knowing probably no one would come to help her, as he squeezed her hand tightly, dislocating each of her fingers on her right hand. Of course it hurt... it hurt like hell. She felt like breaking down and crying. "Please let me go." She cried, clamping her eyes shut. So as to block the tears and so she would no longer see the face of this horrible man. She opened her eyes once again, frightened but wanting to see if his eyes were lying, as he began to talk, answering her question to why he was doing this to her. Those eyes of his weren't lying.
As he commented on her eyes, she couldn't help but let out a terrified squeal. He had to be completely insane, or very cruel. Maybe both. Oh god, she felt pathetic and weak. She slapped his hand away from her sandy hued hair. Out of desperation she screamed and began to tug away from him with all her might. Even though her fist was pounding with pain. "Let me GO!" She was crying now, sniffing as she fought. The tears streaming down her cheeks. "Please!"
"Don't kill me!" She sounded pathetic. And she knew it.
Dante smiled at the girl, taking her chin with is right hand.
"Awww, are you scared little girl? Don't worry, it will all be over soon." Dante let go of her chin and placed his hand behind her neck, about to hit her in a certain pressure point to knock her out, when Kya appeared next to him as a panther. He growled, and just when he thought that he was going to have some fun. His left hand still holding the girl's, Dante's gaze shifted to Kya.
"Hey, Kya dear, just this once can I take one? Please? I'll make it up to you." He pleaded with her, still a smirk was plasted on his face, as always. He was always either grinning or smirking. Never anything else. Unless of course, he was killing. Then he was laughing like a maniac that he was. Dante turned back to the girl, dissapointment written on his face.
"Come on, I almost never get to kill nowadays. Be a good girl? Will you Kya?"
Kya shifted back into a human. "Hmmm, maybe we shouldn't kill her Dante. She could possibly be an asset for the team. IF she would work with us. The Rebmevons wouldn't know who she was, and she's young, we can train her." Kya replied thoughtfully. "If she doesn't agree though, you can kill her. It's your turn anyway." The shapeshifter added.
Dante squinted his eyes at Kya. He huffed and looked back to the girl.
"Fine. But I don't see what any use she could be. She's just a little girl." Then he grinned very fakely and put his face next to the girl's ear and whispered.
"And if you do join I'll make your life such a living hell that you'll wish you had died when you could've." He retracted his head and smiled at her, though his eyes were glaring daggers. How long had he waited for another kill? Weeks? Months? It hurt him inside, like a vampire. That's an assumption he had made long ago. He was like a vampire, craving his blood all the time. Oh how much he loved it so. And right when it was pushed in his face it was taken away just as fast. He was pissed, he wanted to kill very badly.
Dante squeezed the girl's already dislocated fingers and glared at her right int he eyes.
"It's your choice. So I'd suggest you make it now."
Alaina gaped as that panther shifted to a human. What? As they began to discuss her fate, she tried to wriggle her hand away from him. Wait, join what? Oh god, what has she gotten into?
She shifted uncomfortably as he began to speak in her ear. Telling the outcome of her agreeing to join whatever they were talking about. Of course she didn't want to join, but she wasn't done with life yet. Even if it sucked, it kinda did now, she didn't want to die now. Plus, he looked as if he really wanted to kill her. She didn't want to give him what he wanted so very badly. She whimpered as he gave her hand a tiny squeeze. Making her wince from the pain, it did the opposite of what he wanted. More than likely, he would kill her painfully.
Alaina almost didn't want to say anything, fear petrified her. She looked up at him, a smirk plastered on her face. "You don't get to kill me." She wanted to seem couragous to him, but her damp face from her crying and her eyes screaming her terror didn't help the look.
She tugged at her hand which he was still holding. "Please let go of me." She used her sleeve of her other arm to wipe her wet cheeks. She expected him to hurt her, so she wanted to get away from him. "A-and just..." She paused, biting her lip nervously before speaking. Almost afraid of the answer. "... What have I just joined? What exactly did I see that you had to go so far as to want to kill me?" Her voice small, like always, she didn't look up at Dante. Still afraid. Still cowardly.
She lifted her other hand and wrenched his from hers. Knowing he wanted to kill her so badly. It gave her chills being near him. She gave Kya a closer look, but didn't near her. In fact, once she freed herself, she backed up at least eight feet from them. She couldn't run, she knew that, she had already tried that. But she wanted to keep some distance between them. She cradled her hand with the other, almost sick with the current events. They seemed fearless and she was cowardly, why didn't they just kill off the young, weak girl? That baffled her, but she didn't bring it up. Then, a question that was most curious to her, she had to ask, "What is a Rebmevon?"

"So girl, you think he doesn't get to kill you? I think we're the judges of that." The shapeshifter snarled at the girl. "What's your name?" She barked.
She glanced over to the remains of the fire. "Dante, do you want to take her somewhere out of the way? Back to HQ maybe? My house is closer, we can tell exactly what we expect. I've got... things... you might find useful." Her grin was feral, the look in her eyes postively predatory. Then glint in her eyes was gone, leaving anyone to wonder if it had really been there. The grin remained though.
She took yet another step back, shocked by what Kya had said. She was right, they could still kill her. "Alaina Sheal." Her face hardened, emotionless. She was stiff, staring at them caustiously. Kya hadn't even bothered to answer any of her many questions. They were going to treat her like crap. Of course. Why would they be polite?
"What about my..." She paused, wondering what they would do if she finished the statement. Probably ignore her. "... My family?" They deserved to know that she was still alive. Even if she didn't paticularly like them. She was sure they loved her, some what. She could simply call them, or maybe pay them a last visit. She sighed, digging her foot into the concrete of the floor. Listening to the gritting noise. Stressed. Just a little bit frustrated and of course scared. She was pretty much a coward after all.
She frowned, what did Kya mean by things?
Dante snickered at Kya, then turned back to Alaina.
"Sure darling, we can go back to your house. But only for a bit, the Government is expecting me back...With the Mentis." He paused. Now he remembered, he was supposed to retrieve that Mentis that they were chasing. Reaching into his left pocket he pulled out the piece of paper with the information.
"Dorian Htria.....Damn, they are going to be pissed." Then he looked back at the girl. Well, maybe for an apoligy he could give them this girl and then go find that Mentis again. After all, he was immobile. But if only he had gotten that Fire Elemental that was with him. Well, they were in the sewers so they couldn't have gotten far. He'll worry about them later.
"And about your family, nobody cares. Nobody in the Government has family either, so don't expect any simpathy little girl." He snapped at her. Dante never liked talking about 'family', since in his mind he never really had one. A good one at least. He was glad that his parent had been killed when they had. Otherwise he never would've had this wonderous life.
Grabing Alaina's wrist, he turned to Kya.
"Alright dear, let's go to your place and then to HQ. Transform into a horse or something so we can get there faster."
Kya smirked. "Alright. I'm in the same postion, my target's down there as well. With the Menits indisposed, Ara won't leave him. I know them. They'll stick together, and the serum'll last long enough for us to get back there. I live over in the suburbs, shall we head over there?" She then directed her attention to Alaina.
"They aren't your family any more girl. No one's got a family. We're your family now. We may not be the best family, but in the long run you'll thank us."
Alaina was shot a glaring look at Dante about what he said about family. Nope, politeness was nonexistant. What was a mentis? She wanted to scream, frustrated. She studied Ara. How could she change into animals? "Isn't anybody going to tell me about Rebmevons!?" She was louder than usual, perhaps because she was so frustrated. "and let go of me!!" She grabbed his wrist and pull his hand off of her.
She then shot another glarre at Kya. She would never consider these people her family. No, just never. She already knew their names, from listening to them talking to each other. She didn't bother asking them. "Kya, Dante, did you say the government? No, that's impossible. Your group can't be the government. They wouldn't have crazy ass people like you guys..." She stopped, she had said to much. This is what happens when she opens her mouth.
Dante gave a dissaproving look to Alaina. Really, the girl was a handful. Disobeying was a big no-no. He grabbed her by her hair and lifted her up, anger shooting from his face.
"Little girl, if you want to keep your life intact, I'd suggest you start being more obedient. You forget that your life is but glass in my hands." Dante showed her his hand that wasn't holding her up by the hair, waving it in her face. And then as if crushing something he closed it with emphasize.
"And I can just as easily break it, without a though or a care." He then threw her against the wall, grabbed her by the waist, and threw her over his back. Turning to Kya he gave her a nodd.
"Off to your house it is. Now turn into a horse before we're seen."
Kya nodded, and did so. She tossed her head, and turned to stare pointedly at Alaina. Her look clearly said, 'you better keep control of her or I'll kick your ass.' She snorted, and shook her tail.
Her black coat blended into the darkness, and the shapeshifter stared down the street. She too had not killed in a few days, and already she hungered for it. The terror in the girl's eyes partially made up for it though.
Alaina let out a whimper as she was slammed into the wall, then lifted over his shoulder. That hurt. It also scared her. Who wouldn't be scared of that? Feeling as if she was about to fall, she grabbed a fist full of his trench coat. But quickly let go, afraid she might be pinching him. She was terrified of him. "I'm sorry." She murmured, in her usual barely audible, tiny voice. She didn't know why she burst out like that, knowing they could easily kill her. Plus, she never yelled. Ever.
She listened to a snort and a clip sound, a hoof against the floor. Oh god. She wanted to get down, move. But she was petrified, to scared to move. She blinked, staring into his back. Then clamped her eyes shut. She didn't want to see what would happen next.
Dante nodded to Kya, about to jump up and ride her horse form, when a gun-shot was heard. He looked around, wondering where the hell that sound had come from. Look at himself, he could see no wound visable, and felt no pain. He tapped the captive Alaina on the back.
"Hey girl, did you hear that? Or was it just me?" But before he could recieve an answer, he heard a clunk. Looking back, the once horse-form Kya was laying on the ground, dead. A gun-shot to the chest, and the culprit behind her, standing out streched with a gun fresh from the shoot.
Dante stared in suprise, what just happened?
"You! Why did you shoot her? Who are you?" Then, as the smoke from the gun cleared up, he recongized the face as one of the leaders of the Government. He was taken back, they're own organization? Turning on them? Why? Maybe, just maybe, Dante was next. Quickly he took out his gun from his inside pocket, pointing it at the leader.
"General! What compelled you to do this?" Said General smirked, withdrawing his gun.
"She needed to be disposed of. Turns out she was plotting against us all, and was planning to take you back to her base and kill you along with the girl. I did you a favor." The general smiled, and turned around to leave. This made Dante furious, placing his gun back he glared at the leaving back of his superior.
"I could have handled her myself! I had no need for help from you!" The truth was, Dante wanted a kill. It would've been actually good news if Kya had tried to kill him, because then he would've been given a reason to kill. Damn it all.
But the General was out of view, vanished, from sight. Dante sighed it off, eyes darting to the back legs of the girl who was currently resting on his shoulder.
"I guess it's off to HQ then, no side stops. Alright, I guess we also have to walk now." And with that, Dante started off, and rather quickly, since it was going to be a long trip.
Alaina let a tiny squeak, the bullet racing through the air had shocked her, and yet again she grasped fist fulls of his trench coat out of fear of both falling and, well, the obvious boom. She listened to the thump against the stone, then listened quietly as Dante and another man spoke. They killed her off so brutally... and the man didn't even seem to give a shit. Neither did Dante really, and that made her even more frightened of the man. He seemed to really trust this girl, then when she was killed off, he simply sighed it off. It was very cruel it seemed.
She shifted uncomfortably, releasing the coat of his she had a hold of. "C-can I get down please? I-I promise that I w-won't run away." She spoke meekly into his ear, trying to control her voice. She was failing, it was trembling horribly. Just then she tipped over a little to far and slid out of his grasp by accident, falling onto her back. Letting out a pained gasp. Another bruise she will carry tomarrow. If she could last that long that is. She let out gasp and scrambled to her knees, almost ready for a beating for slipping away. Hoping Dante hadn't miss took that as her trying to escape. "I-I'm sorry!!" She cryed, covering her head quickly.
"I promise that I won't run away! I-I'll go willingly!" She continued to panic. Trying her best to convince him not to hurt her again. She felt so pathetic, but if she had to beg not to be hurt yet again, she would do it.
Dante paused, his head turning slightly, but then turned back noting that was not a good idea since his face met with her legs only. He continued walking as he listened to her.
"I don't know if I should let you down, you could be lying to me right now and then once I do let you down you'll run off. And if you run off I'll be forced to shoot you, which let me say, I would be glad to do." He put emphasis in his last statement, ensuring to instill fear in her heart. But Dante continued walking in the corrider behind the buildings, the grimy part, the dark part, the one where only bums and drug dealers hung out. Turning into different alleyways, running around corners, it was like a maze, and one that only he knew how to get out of.
Finally, Dante reached a deserted alleyway, and took out a beeper from his pocket. Pressing the button a light sound was heard only to then be trampled over by a large roaring of a car racing their way. As the car reached Dante, it stopped all at once, and the door opened with a click.
"It won't matter anyway, since I'll be driving. The HQ is far away, so it's going to be a long ride." He slowly walked over, and then when he reached the car he grabbed Alaina by the legs and pulled her down, then roughly pushing her into the back seat without a care. Shutting the door he walked over to the Driver's seat and slid in the car, closing the door also with him.
"Hope you're comfy there little girl." And with that Dante looked back from his seat, grinning with a malicious look at the poor girl.
