Dorian's eyes had widened at the firewall, his mouth held agape throughout the entire rescue mission. The wall, the firebird, the sewers, everything... He had never seen anything like that from a Fire Elemental, and he had known pleanty of them back on Rebmevon. And though he was thankful that she had done that, he was a bit worried also. What if a human saw? And what if he or she came over, and saw everything... Not only would that be another wasted life, but if the human managed to get away, his entire race might be screwed over. Perfect.
He turned back up to Ara, giving her a silent nod to show his understanding. He was grateful that she had actually turned back to save him anyway, and he was hoping that she would do that too. But he had to be polite, and tell her to run. Thank god she didn't listen. The sewer stench was disgusting, but he'd have to hold through, at least for now. Hopefully, the Rekarts wouldn't be able to get themselves around the wall.
Dorian then glanced back at his leg, which was still bleeding just a bit. It hurt like hell, and he knew it would take a while to actually be able to walk again. God damn it all. Too bad Ara wasn't a healer.
Kya shifted underwater, now a crocodile. She followed behind the pair, only her eyes showing above the water. As the pair sat there silently, she swam closer, only ripples belying her presence. The water (was it even water?) was disgusting. The smell filled her nose, and she cringed inwardly.
Gosh, this is disgusting. Couldn't they have picked a better place for a hideout? She thought to herself. Suddenly, she felt a tickle in her nose. Shoot. She let out a great big sneeze that shifted her back to human. The noise reverbrated off the walls, and immediatly gave away that she was there.
Ara jumped so high at the sneeze she was surprised she hadn’t hit her head. Wouldn’t that have been perfect? Her passed out and Dorian unable to walk. Without much thought she fired at Kya, sending waves of flames at her. Sure they weren’t as powerful with the water and all, but they could do the trick. She turned to Dorian then, her face reflecting some sort of fear in the light. Was she scared of being captured? Slightly, but she knew she could win. It was more of the looming water that sent chills down her spin. Night was enough, but water? She was practically allergic.
“Dorian, do me a favor and don’t fall in.” She knew if he couldn’t swim, she couldn’t save him.
Dorian heard the sneeze as well, and his heart almost dropped to the ground. Not now. Not again. Couldn't they have gotten at least a bit of a rest? Apparently not, these damn Rekarts don't know where to stop. "Hold on Ara, I want to try something," he muttered, looking at the Rebmevon in front of him.
"Alright, prepare to get screwed," he said with a proud smirk, glaring at the girl. He didn't see quite enough of her yet, only the fact that she had grown up on Rebmevon... bad parents... getting hurt a lot... and then... and then...
Nothing.
There seemed to be a blank space, almost as if there wasn't only a wall, but... his powers just weren't working. In fear, he turned back to Ara, looking at her and hoping he could get something. Nothing, again there was that blank space that filled in his mind, and he began to panic. "Oh god no," he said, eyes widening. "O-oh god, what's happening to me?" he asked himself, scared. What in the world was going on?! Why couldn't he invade anyone's mind?!
Then it hit him. The bullet.
"Ara, we got a bit of a problem..."
Quickly Kya dove into the tepid water, escaping most of the flames, but her feet were hit. She grimanced. Shifting back into crocodile, she cursed herself for her stupidity. Rising up to the surface of the water, she heard Dorian comment on his 'problem'. She smiled inwardly with glee. 'That serum is so useful. Hopefully one of them will soon make a mistake, and I'll catch at least one. Right now Dorian is powerless, how can I use that?' Kya wondered how her partner was faring.
Ara didn’t even have to ask. She knew. Knew that the needle that struck him and had taken away his power. Why did things have to get much more difficult for her? Taking a step away from the waters edge, she built a wall of fire, blocking Kya from herself and Dorian. If she was going to save them, fire was her last hope. “Sweetie, do you honestly think you can beat me?” Her voice almost cracked with the fear she was feeling but she had to stay strong. Just had too. “An elemental against one shapeshifter?” She clicked her tongue, “Fire burns everything, love.”
"Ah, but this little fire elemental is weakened by this water, isn't she? And her friend the Mentis is powerless. This wall may stop me for now, but I'll find you soon sweetheart." Kya cackled. She shifted to a falcon and soared out the manhole.
A moment later, she settled down on the ground next to Dante, and shifted into panther, blending into the darkness.
Dorian only watched as Ara had fought back against the Rekart, having her protect him. It wasn't that he didn't mind her help--he didn't mind this at all, and was lucky that she was here--but it made him feel weak. Useless. Unwanted. It was almost as if he was... human. He shuddered at the thought, shaking his head and getting it out of his system. He wasn't human. There was no way, no way at all, that he could possibly be close to a human. Yes, there were a few good souls out there, but the majority of the ones that he met wanted to take him into a facility and poke him with strange items. Yeah. Not happening.
He listened to their conversation, with the two of them yelling insults at each other quickly. The thing the girl Rekart said, though, about him being weak. "And your friend the Mentis is powerless." Believe it or not, even if it didn't intend to, it hurt. A lot. Dorian sighed, taking his gaze away from the firewall and looking down at the floor. He wasn't powerless. It wasn't like he was going to stay like this forever. That wasn't possible. At the most, it'd be a few hours, right? How the hell did the Government get the ability to take away Rebmevon powers anyway?
Taking a sigh of relief, the Mentis painter turned up to the girl, smiling widely. "Thank god you wanted to take an aimless walk at three in the morning," he said happily. Now the only problem that remained was his ability not working, but hey, at least they weren't captured. "Alright, maybe we should stay away from this manhole. That way, in case they decide to come in here, it would take them awhile to find us. I'm not going up there for a bit of a while, not while those two are still there," he muttered, placing both hands on the ground as if he was about to get up. "Now then, let's see if I can stand..."
He pushed off the ground, wobbling a bit before falling back onto the ground. Ouch. Not fair. "Stupid leg," he murmured, glancing back at his shot leg. It had stopped bleeding, but it still hurt like hell... actually, no. It didn't. It was just... numb. And so was his other leg. Both just lost feeling, almost suddenly too. "Wait, Ara. Maybe moving is a bad idea." He tried getting up again, but no use. His legs were just not working, and this bothered the Rebmevon. He guessed that it was the bullet, something in the serum that made him lose movement in his legs, and slowly, his body. That was the conclusion he came up with, and he didn't like it at all. "Oh god. Why me?"
It was over. She was safe….for now. Releasing the fire she sank to the floor next to Dorian, closing her eyes for a moment, thinking. “As much as I wouldn’t want to, we could walk to another sewer. Come out at another place.” She opened her eyes, looking into his for a moment, then to his legs. “If I were to help you walk do you think you would be able too?”
Ara ran a hand through her hair as she stood up again, trying to think of the best place they could come out at. There was one in town, down the road, and by the diner. “I think our best bet would be the sewer outlet down the old road.”
Stupid Rekarts. If it wasn’t for their sudden game of hide-and-go-kill, she wouldn’t be stuck in a cold, damp sewer all morning, and she wouldn’t’ feel like she was being watched all the time. Oh the fun to look forward too.
Dorian nodded, agreeing with her idea. Getting away from this sewer would be good, especially since those two could come back down any second. "Well, I think I would love to try to move, but I can't. I think there's something in the bullet that's making me... immobile. At least for now." To prove this, he attempted to move his left arm, but this only resulted in him yelping as the arm made no effort to move.
God damn.
"Great," he muttered, looking up to Ara helplessly. He hated this. Being completely useless wasn't helping at all, and he felt as though he was a giant weight on Ara's back. He didn't even know how long these affects were going to last for. An hour? Two? A day? He shuddered at the thought of a day, he wasn't sure if he would be able to last. And especially without his powers... he refused to think about him not being able to use his power, even though it was already demonstrated with the Shapeshifter.
But besides that, it wasn't just being able to see someone's memory. He was more worried about him... forgetting. It was a stupid thing to be afraid of, but come to think of it, he hadn't forgotten anything. Ever. And knowing that his Mentis power was gone for now, he might not be able to remember. Oh, joy.
Dorian glanced to the floor of the sewers, shaking his head. "I'm sorry," he finally muttered, not being able to look up at her. "I'm... sorry I can't move. And that I'm now officially useless," he added, shaking his head. "I should've... been more careful of where I was running." He would've shrugged his shoulders, but seeing the position he was in, he couldn't possibly do so.
She was lost in her thoughts for a moment as he attempted to move. Well this sucked. “I don’t think I could carry you...” She said quietly, her expression saddening. “Damn Rekarts.”
Why did this have to be one long complicated mess? It should have been easy, destroy the Rekarts and escape, but no such luck. Why couldn’t they just have one break? One slight miracle?
She paced the small area, watching the entrance with each step. They had to leave, and soon.
At his apologizes, Ara sunk down next to him, turning his head so he was facing her. “We are both in this together and whether you like it or not, I’m helping you.” She smiled, almost childishly for a moment before returning to serious. “Don’t apologize. I’m sure you would do the same for me.”
Dorian smiled faintly when she had knelt down next to her, nodding his head as much as he possibly could, which really wasn't much at all. "You're right, I probably would. Damn my politeness." He laughed at this, trying to make himself sound funny in this horrible time. Hey, if he couldn't move, then make the best out of it in the meantime, right?
But it wouldn't work. Like he could really laugh when he was paralyzed like this? Even if he really did feel like laughing, he wouldn't. The joke seemed to be on him now, since he couldn't do much. He quickly made a silent oath to hurt--maybe even kill--Dante the next time he saw him. The next time the two of them met, Dorian would make sure to make him forget how to even fucking use the bathroom. Oh yes, this man would pay.
After a few more minutes of awkward silence, Dorian closed his eyes for a moment and let out a breath of air. "I'm Dorian," he stated simply, realizing that they hadn't introduced themselves. He had only known her name by looking into her memory (he had immediatly done so as soon as he thought he was in danger, in case she was a Rekart too), but it wasn't like she had introduced herself. How rude of him to call out her name without an introduction.

She smiled and nodded as he introduced himself. “And you already know my name, but it’s Ara.” A small chuckle escaped her lips. Wasn’t that quite sick of her? To laugh at a time like this. “This must be driving you crazy. If I couldn’t use my power….” She shook her head. “It would drive me insane.”
Just the thought of loosing her powers caused her to pull her knees closer, protecting herself. “So, did you like search my mind or do a background check Mr. Mentis?” She watched him for a moment before adding. “Tell me if you get cold, I can warm things up if need be.”
Amazing how two people, well Rebmevons, could bond in a hole in the ground.
Dorian nodded again, making a girm expression on his face. "Trust me, it sucks. I've been remembering things all my life... now I can't even remember what my old house looked like," he muttered, finally realizing that his powers were truly off. If he couldn't see his old house, then... then... He couldn't even think of the word for it, but he knew it was something bad. Bleh. "Lucky you, not having the insane guy chasing after you," he added with a faint smile.
"And don't worry, I only did a background check. I needed to see if you were working with those damn Rekarts, and thank goodness you aren't. You probably would've done the same in my position, right?" he asked her curiously. "You know, when I was younger, whenever I met someone knew, I'd just go right into their minds and search them dry. Immature of me, right?" Dorian wasn't quite sure why he had decided to tell her this, but it was just the first thing that had popped into his head. Weird.
"Trust me, I won't be getting too cold. The sewer water is actually a bit warm, so it shouldn't get too cold down here," he added. "Besides, a fire might attract some... unwanted attnetion. But thanks," he commented, still keeping his smile. He was happy that she had cared so much about his state of being, especially since they had only met moments ago. But this was why they weren't human. They could easily bond, and trust each other within moments of meeting each other.
Unlike humans, who had to ask every question imaginable, just to steal someone's money. Jackasses.
Ara watched him for a moment, listening to him and everything. “Yes, I would have as well. Safety is key in this game.” She sighed as she rested her head against the wall. “I think, when were younger, we are more interested in other people. You just happened to be able to search their minds.” She chuckled at an old memory. “You searched minds, I caught people on fire.” The playground, five years of age, one kickball. That didn’t work out well.
As angry voices filled the sewers, Ara cast a look to Dorian. God not now. Slinking over to the entrance she listened as a girl was slammed against a wall. Oh how badly she wanted to help her, save her from the pain. But that would have a just as deadly response. “They have a girl.” She said flatly, as she held herself back. “They are taking her to….I can’t…” She sighed as hooves danced on the pavement. “Somewhere.”
Dorian winced as he heard the hooves from above, also wanting to help this poor girl. He could tell that she wasn't a Rebmevon by the little amount of resistence that was heard. "Yeah," he murmured, also wanting to help her. But they couldn't do anything. He couldn't move, and this girl probably was with both of those Rekarts. And might get in the way if they saved him.
"Well," he stated, "I guess this is a bit good. If they're taking the girl away, then they'll be away from us. So we'll have some time... to... um, Ara?" As he had spoken, a large rat had gotten onto his foot, scurrying over it as it continued on its path to no where. The small creature realized that it was on something, and it looked at Dorian with its beady yellow eyes. Dorian flinched, wanting to get the creature off, but he couldn't move his leg. So the rat stayed. How amusing.
"Get off!" he yelled quietly, trying as hard as he could to shake the thing off. The rat didn't move, merely watching him with what seemed like interest. The Mentis growled, finally shoving his foot upwards as much as he could, which wasn't much. The rat screeched, jumping off of his foot and running back into the shadows, away from the Rebmevon. He sighed of relief, happy that this creature had gotten off.
But then he realized something. "Ara, I think..." He tried moving his foot again, and it worked--barely. He only felt his toes moving, and they were barely even moving at all. "I think if you just hoist me up and walk, I can keep my weight on the ground with my toes," he suggested, turning to Ara. "We might not get far, but it'll be farther than here. And anywhere is better than here. Care to give it a go?"
Ara watched as the rat scurried off, sending a small zap of fire his way. By the time she had reached Dorian she heard it squeak. “I think getting out of here would be a good idea.” She looked down at his legs, a sense of worry filling her. What if this didn’t last and he fell? What if it did last long? Changing her thoughts she add, “I still feel bad about the girl.”
It wouldn’t have taken much to have given her a chance to run, escape. That wouldn’t have been great for them though, stuck in a sewer with very little power. “We can head to my place. It isn’t far from here, and maybe you shouldn’t be alone until you can….umm…well fight for yourself again.”
A light color filled her cheeks as she held out her hand. “No offense or anything.”
Dorian also watched as the rat disappeared, pleased that it wouldn't be bothering him anymore. "Alright then," he started, " let's go." He was pleased to finally get moving, especially since the Rekarts could come back down soon. And even if those two had went away, more of the government could come. Which wasn't good at all.
"I know not saving the girl is a bad choice," he added, seeing Ara's distraught look on her face. "But we can't go back up there, not like this. If... when... I get better, we can try going after her, alright?" He hated the fact that he still didn't know how long these effects would last, and the thought of him not having his abilities for a while scared him. Which was a first on this small planet.
"Oh, that's just lovely, Ara. Hold out the hand for the paralyzed guy to reach for," he stated sarcastically, though grinning partially. "You really think I can reach that far?" He tried moving his hand towards the others, but had failed, shaking his head. "Just hoist me up, please?"
Ara looked at him, flabbergasted. “Ah! Sorry! I didn’t mean it that way…” She chuckled lightly before bending down, throwing his limp arm over her shoulder. “And away we go….”
Slowly, oh so slowly, they crept down along the sewer wall. She kept them as far as possible from the water, and although she detested it, she was the one closest to the edge, just in case he were to fall. “Tell me if you need to rest for a moment.”
Her thoughts wandered to the girl and how they would be able to reach her. It wasn’t like the Rekarts flaunted where their headquarters were. Why did every rescue mission have to be so impossible? Why did she rescue others anyway? ’Because I’m lucky to be alive.’
Rats scurried as their footsteps echoed off the walls, sending an eerie tune in the tunnel. A small flame floated in front of them leading the way. “Sorry, habit. Can’t really help it.” She shifted his weight so his arm was more comfortable on her shoulder, and at first it almost knocked her off balance. Anyone for a dip in the polluted water?
Dorian smiled faintly as he was helped up, happy to be finally on the move once again. He was actually doing quite well, lettting his feet drag along the floor. He tried his best to keep up with the Fire Elemental, but his toes weren't doing as much work as he hoped. At least he was trying, though, and at least they were getting away from the Rekarts.
...Unless, of course, they were tracking them down.
But that probably wouldn't happen. Besides, there's only so much that serum could actually do. What were the odds that the serum in the bullet would prevent him from using his powers, paralyze him, and track him down with a tracking device? Slim to none; even the Rekarts weren’t that smart, nor did they have the technology.
He smiled again as Ara quickly tried to defend herself, using the fire as a shield. Well, at least she was ready if someone came to attack them. Funny, how that managed to be the first thing that came to Dorian’s mind when he saw the Elemental in action, instead of the usual, ‘Whoa! That’s sooo cool! I wish I could do that!’ And as they continued, he also realized that she was slightly leaning towards the water, and he looked at it worryingly. Fire and water didn’t go too well together, so…
Wouldn’t that be bad for Ara? “Be careful,” he murmured to her. “I can’t have you falling in the water, or else we’ll both be screwed,” he ended with a goofy grin, hoping that she would quickly regain her balance and continue. Sheesh. He felt horrible, relying on her to help him out, but he would probably do the same for her if their situations switched, so he understood.
Leaning on her other foot, Ara regained her balance. Sighing with relief she nodded. “The water has been the first thing on my mind.” She chuckled lightly, just to keep the mood alive. Not much further now and she could be out of the water hole. “My place isn’t far. It sits up kinda high, so we can keep watch.”
The strength she had in the beginning was ceasing and she knew it wouldn’t be long until her energy would collapse. She just had to make it out of the hole. Out of the cold, dark, damp hole. Then she would be fine.
They traveled in silence for a while. Minutes? Seconds? Hours? It all seemed the same to her. Why was it when you were scared things seemed to last for centuries?
A small half of her wanted to just leave him, a burden to her. It was telling her to run, save her own skin. He was after all powerless; she would have to do all the work.
But how could she leave her own kind? He was one of the few that would understand her; get why in the middle of the night, when she slept, she would wake up screaming. She wouldn’t have to hide her powers, explain why she didn’t want to go swimming on a hot day. Not to mention he saw the destruction, the agony, and was able to escape. A miracle. So why would she leave him? To leave him would be like leaving her memories, understanding, and a trust.
Finally they arrived at an exit and she stared up at it. “Well, this is going to be easy.” Her voice dripped in sarcasm. How the hell was she supposed to lift him up out of the cursed hole?
Dorian also laughed when she had mentioned the water, happy that she was still in a good mood. He did feel kinda bad for being in this situation still, but it wasn't like she was going to leave him here. With the rats. And the dark. In the sewers. At night.
Right?
And then they had reached the opening. He scowled at it, wondering how the hell Ara was going to get both himself and herself up there. It was obvious that she was losing strength, and was definitely not going to be able to carry him up. "Oh, well fuck," he murmured, looking up and trying to decided what to do.
She could always... try. What if she did have the strength to carry him up? But then she might drop him... He did have a little bit of movement, though, so he could always try and catch himself... but that wouldn't work. And it wasn't like they could wait until he was able to move again, cause by then the Rekarts might already be waiting, or it might take a bit to get his powers back. He finally thought of an option, and he looked towards Ara with a concerned look on his face.
"You go. Just go outside, and get some help. It's likely that there's another Rebmevon somewhere out here, right? Just... put me down, and go. At least someone out there will be willing to help, right?" he asked her. "And don't give me any of that 'But you might get taken by the Rekarts' crap. You really think you can carry me up? Believe me, I'll be fine, just go and get help," he urged her with a pleading look. "Please, I'll be fine."
Walking down the streets in town something caught his attention or more like caught his nose. Not too far from where he stood a very horrible odor emerges, plaguing the air around him. "What is that smell?!" He instantaneously yells, covering his nose with one hand. It smelled like the putrid sewers. Thius glances around searching for the source of the smell, hoping that is was a temporary smell.
Slightly lifting his hand off his nose, he follows the smelly trail that lingered in the wind. After a couple of minutes, Thius lays eyes on an open sewer. "Well I think there is the problem," He mutter with a whimper and he walks toward it. Thius just knew that he had to close up the hole with the lid, for no one else was around to do so. Ugh, that task just had to fall upon me.
As he stands a few inches away from it, he looks down, almost instantly he gets an idea. "ECHOOOOOOOOOOO~!!!!!" The man yells into the sewered and stands quietly to hear his voice echo back.
Giggling for a moment, he pauses to think for a while. Why would someone leave a sewer uncovered? Don't they realize that someone might fa-..... "Ah crap!" He shouts, as his pair of glasses fall off his nose and down into the sewer. Smacking his forehead for being careless to permit such a thing to happen, a frown befell on his lips and shouts sarcastically, "I swear Thius, sometimes you are just a genius!" I really don't want to go down there... He thought to himself, biting down on his lip, trying to procrastinate as long as he could before he had to go down and fetch his pair of glasses.
How long must have he been waiting for? A few minutes? A few hours? Dorian had lost track of the time a while ago, waiting for Ara to come back with—hopefully—some help. But the longer he waited, the more worried he got. What if she didn’t come back? What if she was captured? What if she’s just gonna leave him there in the sewer and run for her own life? What if the Rekarts captured him?
So many thoughts were going through his head, it really wasn’t healthy for him. Thankfully, he did start to get some feeling back in him, mainly his toes and fingers. He could successfully move his fingers around, and he could also move his toes. But no hands, and no feet, so it didn’t really help him. Great. Wonderful. Perfect. Joyful.
He almost let out a scream as he heard the little clink of something falling down the sewer way, and he turned his head as much as he could to the object that made the terrifying sound. A pair of glasses. How strange. He tried looking up to the area where the glasses came from, only seeing a few rays of sunlight. So much for catching the sunrise, right? He was hoping to god that this person wasn’t a Rekart, or he would’ve been screwed.
But then he realized that this person was a Rebmevon. Dorian’s breath caught in his throat. “Ara,” he called out quietly, “a-are you up there?”
Thius was just about to descend into the sewer when he heard a voice coming from below. It caught him off guard and a shiver runs up his spine as the thought of zombie infested sewers crowd his mind. Seriously, this guy was a little too fond of graphic novels. A few seconds later, he got a grip and murmurs a few words to the darkness. Was it my imagination or are the echoes playing a trick on my ears? Ara? Ara who? "Uhhm? Ara? Is someone down there? Hello? Did you just say something?" He sounded a little hesitant, why someone would possibly be down in a sewer of all places, rather odd to come across with anyone in such a place.
Taking a deep breath, he descends down that ladder until he reached the ground. Turning around to see if anyone was down their he notices a man, but not just any ordinary man, a Rebmevon. Though he knew that the man was indeed a Rebmevon, he could not get a clear look at him, since he had neither glasses nor contacts on. Instantly his lips curls up into a grin. "My my. It's quite odd to meet a fellow Rebmevon down in here, then again it's quite odd to meet anyone down here in general." Thius sounded casual, trying not to pose as any form of a threat. Is this man with the government? He ponders as his eyes scan around the ground looking for his pair of glasses and yet kept his guard up.
"Tell me. Are you working for the government or against them? And why are you down here?" Thius kept his tone neutral, sounding neither like friend nor foe, yet he kept his cool. Since were both down in a place where shadows thrive, Thius felt that he might have the advantage for a moment. However he hoped that when it all came down that the stranger was on his side rather then against.
"So what's your answer?"
Dorian watched as the man came down into the sewers, immediately shooting out questions like bullets. Although Dorian enjoyed at least getting to know the man’s name first, he knew that this was a good safety precaution, and it was rightfully used. He didn’t completely trust this man, but he knew that the man at least wasn’t starting off with a fight.
“No,” he stated simply, “I’m not. It’s the Government’s fault I’m down here anyway, so why would I be apart of that crap?” he asked, a small smile growing on his face. He hoped the man believed his story, or else he’d be screwed over. He had decided not to explain his full story to the Rebmevon and reveal that he was paralyzed. Cause if this guy really was part of the Government, Dorian would have run out of options to use. It wasn’t like he could use his power… right?
He tried to get inside the guy’s head, but to no avail. He sighed heavily, groaning and closing his eyes for just a moment. “Dammit,” he muttered. Still wasn’t working, and this wasn’t good for him. He felt as though he was losing too many memories, and couldn’t remember much, which scared him anyway. He had never forgotten anything in his life before, and this knew feeling was almost… alien to him.
“I’m guessing you don’t know Ara then, huh?” he asked, but he already knew the answer. With a slight sigh, he looked up back to the man, smiling faintly. “I’m Dorian,” he said simply. He had a feeling that he could trust this guy, even though he wasn’t too sure why. He just felt a strange calmness near him, and that made him happy. “You aren’t part of the Government, are you? Cause if you are, I swear to god I will smack you,” he stated, smiling fading. He still had to be on his guard, even though the guy made him feel a bit safe.
Melanthius sighs in relief in response to the man's answer. Though he did not know the man, he felt that he could trust him, then again it was either trust him or attack him. Taking a view steps closer to the man, Thius smiles and says. "Well, that's good it appears that I don't have to fight you after all. No need to worry, I do not associate myself with government trash."
As he got closer, his foot slightly taps his glasses, "Aha!" Thius exclaims, as he leans over to grab the troublesome spectacles. With the sleeve of his coat, he wipes them and then adjusts them back on his face. His eyes glance back at the man and he carefully watches him for moment as he draws out the situation in his mind. "I take it you are injured or something along those lines, seeing that you are just sitting there, I doubt it's because you want to absorb the wonders on this sewer... and no, I do not know Ara. Another rebmevon, I assume.. perhaps out seeking help as we speak?" Quickly, he hypothesizes and concludes based on his observations. Seems rather reasonable. Cocking an eyebrow, Thius was still debating about the man's association with the government. If he was with the government, I doubt they would leave him down here in the first place.
Seeing that the man took his time to introduce himself, Thius smiles warmly, "I am Melanthius, Thius for short." He said tilting his head to the side.
It was quite a morning for him, first a pair of little boys, then a woman who probably saw him as an ass and now Dorian. I wonder what else this day will hold. Thius ponders for a few moments before redirecting his attention at Dorian. "Pff, like I said. I'm not part of the government, so no smacking is nescessary.... for now anyways," He said in a cheerful tone, as he tries to lighten up the mood with some laughter. Seriously, the mood down there including the horrid stench was beginning to depress Thius. So he felt the need to laugh it out as well.
Dorian smiled faintly at the man's guess, nodding. "Was it really that obvious that I was hurt?" he asked with a smirk. "And yes, Ara is a friend. She went off on her own a few hours ago looking for someone to help me get out, but she hasn't come back in a while," he said quietly. "I dunno, she might've been captured, just didn't even try to find help for me... lots of shit has been running through my head, and it's bothering me," he admitted, laughing quietly.
He wasn't too sure why he was telling all of this information to this man, but he felt as though he might be able to help him. He was a fellow Rebmevon, and he looked strong, too. "Maybe you can help, though," he asked. "See, I'm paralyzed, and not only that but my powers don't work either. Sucks, doesn't it? The Government is a whore, I swear to god. But I'd really appreciate it if you could help me out," he asked with a wry grin, tilting his head to the side. He knew that Ara might come back soon, but he'd rather not take the chance of her having ditched him, then later being caught by the Rekarts... and Dante. He shivered at the thoguth of Dante, the guy who brought him into the situation in the fist place.
"You may not be a Super--hell, you might not even be strong at all--but could you at least try to help me out? Think of how you'd feel if you were stuck in a whole with no way out?" he asked, almost pleadingly. He needed this man's help, and knew that it would be better if Thius was able to find him before anyone else did.
Melanthius nods slightly before brushing back his hair with his fingers and replies, "I wouldn't say obvious, just took a guess based on the situation. Anyways, let's just hope your friend wasn't captured or anything along those lines." Thius could not help but lower his head and smile, with his index finger he pushes up at the rim of his glasses. "Do I really look like I wasn't going to help you? A simple 'help me' would have been enough, there is no need in pleading." He said with a warm smile. Thius wasn't the type to leave someone behind, especially his own kind, when they needed help.
Glancing at the ladder and back at Dorian, Thius says with a slight chuckle, "Hmm, paralyzed you say? Well, I could carry you up. You don't look that heavy." Loosening up his tight shoulder joints and stretching his arms a little, Thius walks up now standing besides Dorian.
"Now then this might be a tad bit uncomfortable but bare with me. Just tell me when you are ready." He tells him as he laughs a bit and kneels down next to him getting ready to lift Dorian up onto his shoulders.
Dorian blinked at him as the man rushed to his side, wanting to help him. They had just met, and on a normal basis, the stranger would probably just walk away and ignore him. Just leave him to sit there, awaiting whatever doom had in store for him. But that's why Rebmevons were a bit different, the ones that he met liked helping their kind. At least their kind. Why couldn't humans do the same? Just help each other out, and not kill each other? It was too weird to think about, the same species killing each other. Stupid humans. Could they do nothing right?
But then again... what about Ara? She was trying to help him too... and what if she came back with help? And he wasn't there? She would flip out, maybe even blow up something? Track down the Government? He had no idea what she would do, but he was sure it wouldn't be good if she came back only to find him missing. But what if she got captured, and he didn't know about it. What if he never knew, and when he found out, it was too late?
If.
Dorian really had to stop living in the 'iffy' world. "Ready when you are," he stated, smiling to Melanthius. This was the best decsion right now, and even if Ara flipped out, Dorian would try to find her again. It was a small world, he could find her again.

Leaving someone behind when they needed help, normally a stranger would do that to another. The morals of humans tend to surround concepts of those sort, 'Everyone for themselves' . Ever since arriving to this planet, the native inhabitant always tend to keep to themselves, never giving a damn to anyone else but themselves. He didn't understand why they would just leave their own kind behind. And at the same time it bothered Thius, then again he did notice that some would help each other, but it was quite rare.
The thought brought back memories of when he first arrived almost a year ago, he wasn't sure what to expect but what he got were a bunch of cold stares and was ignored. People would treat him as a lost case, but what more could he have done? This was new territory he was in. All he could do was keep a low profile and avoid all unnecessary run ins with the Rekart.
"Well then. Up you go." Thius said smiling back at him, as he snaps out of his thoughts. Grabbing Dorian's arm, Thius pulls him onto his left shoulder lifts him up like a sack of potatoes. "Hope your comfortable, now enjoy the ride." Once he stood up, he made his way to ladder. Gazing up to measure how many steps he'd have to climb, Thius lets out a sigh. "Alright then. Don't look down and if you begin to regain feeling in your limbs, try not to move around too much." He warns Dorian before reaching out to firmly grasp the ladder. Gripping tightly onto the the cold metal, Thius slowly begins to climb up.
Dorian only blinked at Thius began to pick him up. He couldn't exactly feel what was going on, but he definitely had realized when he was suddenly 'floating' a few feet above the ground. This was great! He'd finally get out of this damned hole, thank god! The stench of the sewers had almost made him vomit, but now that he was getting out of here, it seemed as though the smell was going away already.
He then felt Thius begin to climb, and the painter started to wish that he could hold onto something. He could only look down, and down had started to go further and further away from him as the other Rebmevon accended. He gulped, closing his eyes and taking in a few deep breaths. Dorian had a bit of a fear for heights, especially if he couldn't do anything... and he began to slip...
The thoughts were too much for Dorian to bare, and he couldn't hold back a quick yelp. "Thius, a-are we near the top?" he asked, still keeping his eyes closed. He refused to open them until they were back onto the ground, with fresh air, sunlight, and no where to fall.
Thius looks up to see how far he would have to go. "Hehehe.. just a little further." More like more then half way to go. Letting out a sigh he proceeds his journey up the ladder with Dorian still on his shoulder. Yet, Thius couldn't help but wonder what will happen after. Yes, Dorian would be out of the sewer now but he couldn't just leave him just yet. Should I take him to my place? He wonders, just about that same time his stomach began to growl. A dim glow on his now pallid complexion now began to dull him down as hunger bit at him obsessively Great! I forgot, the whole purpose to this trip to the town was meant for me to grab a bite to eat.
Again the mind of the young rebmevon began to wander off, which was a problem. Slowly Dorian began to slip and Thius was being to absent minded to notice. However before Dorian completely slips out of his grip Thius pulls him tightly. Literally, the awkward sensation of having someones life in his own hand smacks him back, out of his thoughts. "Woah. I'm sorry. Almost dropped you there." He said, laughing nervously trying to amend for the almost bad predicament.
Thius quickly climbs the rest of the way. Being only a few inches he smells the nice fresh air, deeply inhaling to fill up his lungs with such clean air, he was rather sick of the sewer, then again he always was sick of the sewer's putrid aroma. As quickly as he inhales, he pulls himself and Dorian out of that 'demon hole.' Setting Dorian down, Thius sat down to take a moment and smell the fresh air.
Looking back at Dorian, he said. "Ahaha, this has been quite a morning. I don't normally crawl into sewers everyday. Well that little experience made me appreciate the air up here." Shifting his eyes back to the sewer opening, Thius adds in a playful tone, "I should probably re lid that demon hole."
Dorian understood, knowing that they would probably be out soon. That'd be good, he was really hating this feeling, and wanted out now. Then he'd finally relax, and know that he'd be safe from at least any Rekart who wanted to find him in the sewers. He suddenly started to wonder exactly who Thius was, as in power. He didn't look like a Super, and probably wasn't either. Maybe another Mentis? "Hey Thius, what power do you ha--"
Before he could finish his sentence, he slowly felt himself falling out of the other man's grasp. With widened eyes, he screamed, trying desperately to get his way back into Thius' safe grip. "Oh crap, I'm gonna die!" he cried, thinking it would be the end for him. He suddenly felt Thius grasp him aain, pulling him into a safer position. His eyes were still widened, and he was still terrified. "Oh shit... please... don't do that again... and I know you almost dropped me, you idiot," he hissed in a bit of anger.
He was wondering if he trusted the right guy or not.
He suddenly felt himself not being carried anymore as he got out of the sewers and onto the ground, making Dorian one of the happiest Rebmevons on Earth. "Thank you... so much," he said, faintly smiling. He was out of the ground now, and he was more happy than ever. "Please close that thing up, I don't want to go in there ever again."
He suddenly realized something bad. Ara. If she came back with help, she might freak out. That could definitely be bad for anyone around at the time... "Hey Thius, mide if we stay here for a bit? My friend is suppose to be coming for me, but you obviously got here before me... wanna just stay here?" he asked, tilting his head as much as he could to the side.
Quickly the Rebmevon jumps up onto his feet. Tentatively he looks around, searching for the steel lid of the sewer. Upon hearing what Dorian asks, Thius tilts his head back to catch a glimpse of him before turning back to continue to search again. Taking a long pause, the man rubs the edge of his chin and finally response with a slight shrug, "Sure. We can stay for a bit until your friend arrives. However if she does not show up after a while, then I afraid we'll have to go, unless if you decide to stay here. Sorry but I have things that I have to attend to, so I can't stay here all day."
At last he finds the lid, apparently it rolled a tad bit down into the edge of an alleyway right next to a dumpster. Grabbing it, he tugs hard lifting the wretched thing and carries it toward the sewer. However being lazy as he normally is, instead of reaching down to cover the demon hole, he just drops it allowing it to make an annoying sound of two metal pieces scratching against each other. Quite a brain piercing nuisance of a sound as it rang in his ears making him scrunch up his face a tad bit as a gesture of pain and irritability. Looking down at the lid once the ringing died down, Thius frowns once more as he adjusts the list with his foot.
"All done." The man mutters stuffing his hands back into his pockets as he takes a seat back on the ground. "So how long do you think it'll take for your friend to return?" He asks as he pulls out a small bottle from his pocket. Waiting for a response he examines the bottle slightly and finally unscrews the tiny cap. Smelling the contents of the bottle, he then takes a quick drink. A small grin curls up onto his lips in satisfaction as cognac warms up his throat and mouth in a pleasurable tingly way. Exhaling happily there was the sweet smelling scent of brandy in his breath as he says, "Hm, this is good stuff." Recapping the bottle, he shoves it back into his pocket saving the rest for later.
Ara hesitated before taking lead of the two. “Thank you.” She whispered more to herself than to anyone, but she figured they would hear her thank them a hundred times before the day was done. “It’s in an alley so it shouldn’t be hard to reach.”
And so they went, quickly as Ara could go. Through the town, around the crowd, into two dead ends, and finally she could see the street. Thank God she was almost there. “I’m coming Dorian.” She whispered.
But then something nasty crept into the back of her mind. Rekarts. What if they were around? What if they had stumbled upon Dorian in his helpless state? What if she had taken too long? What if- “DORIAN!”
Some worry left her face as she rushed down the alley, Seth and Takei in tow. Well, guess she really didn’t need their help… Her bad.
“I’m sorry guys.” She said, the ends of her lips turning down.
Takei grimaced as the girl darted down the alley, folding his arms, standing at the enterance of it. "Seth, we aparently came here for no reason." He glanced toward the two other male rebmevon, finding them attractive, but not embracing this emotion. "It doesn't matter. But, I don't need other 'friends'. Seth, I'm going back to my apartment, I'm not holding you back from staying here.", he simpered a bit, then turned away, waiting for a response from Seth.
It was at his inconvenience that he met three other rebmevon, besides Seth. If it hadn't been to Seth's reasoning, he wouldn't have considered helping. Come to think of it, he was what people would call a selfish little prick(emphasis on the little), of course, being himself, he ignored this behavior. Although, his 'other side' was the more caring, well-behaved one, the side he'd been using now the uncaring misbehaved one.
Seth sighed, guessing that this really was no help at all for Takei. He had been hoping that they could find something out about him, something about his power maybe. Well, it wasn't hopless, seeing as these three were also Rebmevons. They could possibly help them out. Rushing over to Takei he grabbed his hand, face shaken over with anxiety.
"P-please Takei... d-don't leave! These people, er, c-can still help with your power...m-maybe they could know!" Turning to those people he bowed franticaly, feeling ashamed that they were no help to them.
"Ah, s-sorry! I'm v-very sorry, and...please d-don't be angry at m-my friend, it's j-just..um...been tough f-for him." Damn, he was studdering again. Well that was just great, wasn't it?
"W-would any of y-you...want t-to help my f-friend? He c-can't....remember his p-power." He paused. "Please?" They had to help Takei, they just had to. If Takei was mad, Seth didn't know what to do. He was Seth's first and only friend, at least Seth hoped he could be, and he didn't want Takei to ever be unhappy for that.
Dorian nodded to Thius, grateful that he was willing to wait. Even if it was only for a little while, he knew he could trust Ara to come back soon. It wouldn't take her long, right? Besides, what were the odds that she would get captured by a Rekart, anyway? Slim to none. He trusted her, he had put his whole life in her trust.
She would come.
"DORIAN!"
Bingo!
Dorian had glanced up, recognizing the voice, and a large smile appeared on his face as she came into view. She had two Rebmevons behind her, but he was just happy to see that none of them were captured by Rekarts. Or that they weren't being followed, that was good too. "Ara!" he cried out, wanting to get up and run towards her, hug her, just get up and move. But he couldn't; the drug still had its effect on him, and it annoyed the hell out of the Mentis. Instead, he just smiled widely, watching as the other two Rebmevons talked about what to do now.
At the mention of the short one--well, the shorter one, both of them were incredibly small--not remembering his powers, he frowned. "You don't remember your power?" he asked curiously. "That's weird... well, you're probably not a Mentis... then again, you might be. You sure you don't remember anything at all?" he asked, tilting his head to the side as much as he could.
Takei turned toward Seth, as his hand was grabbed. Pulling away from the taller boy, he glanced toward the rebmevon, Dorian. Moving his hair from the blue eye his fixed the snow cap he'd been wearing, giving Dorian eye contact. Nothing seemed to happen.
"No. I don't remember anything.", Takei replied, frowning slightly. "If you'll be any help, if you don't mind me asking, what so called 'power' do you have?", he questioned, narrowing his eyes slightly. Next, he bowed his head slightly, rubbing it, then raising his head. "I'm terribly sorry for his behavior, he's so moody sometimes, its kind of funny sometimes.", he smiled, crossing his arms.
"So we aren't seen, would you all like to move to my apartment? It isn't spacious, it only has one room, not including the bathroom.", he simpered, glancing toward Seth. "Do you think thats a good idea?"
The man remains quiet as he saw the group of others approaching. The girl of the group called out to Dorian, so Thius concludes that she was his friend. Well, this is good.. she didn't abandon him. Turning his attention to the other two he asks Dorian, "Are those two friends of yours as well? Or did the miss just bring them?"
Turning his attention toward the stuttering, he replies with a shrug, "Doesn't remember his power.. well.. I don't think there is anything we could do.. but try and trigger his memory somehow."
Glancing back and forth at the other rebmevon, Thius cocks an eye brow as if he were thinking about something for a brief moment as he adjusts his glasses. Stands up in his own pace, he stubbles a little at first since he was slightly tipsy yet kept his balance. "Don't remember anything..? Amnesia.. this might be hard reverse.. then again it might just be easy." Thius goes on nodding his head half in thought and slightly covers his lips as he hiccups. Well I can't think of anything. Hmmm.... Thius thought, trailing off into his own world.. I wish I had a muffin right now.
Ara had walked over to Dorian, standing next to him almost protectively. Hey, they had gotten this far. She wasn’t going to let simple mistakes mess this up now.
She looked up at Seth and then Takei. Couldn’t remember his powers? She half shivered thinking how awful it would be to know you could do something great, but not know what it was.
“We can help.” She said gently, glancing up at Takei. “You were going to help us. It’s the least we can do.”
Not to mention heading to his house would be a great way to get away. Away from possible Rekarts. Away from ambushes. Away from danger. Just…away.
She looked at the small group that had formed, sighing. They really shouldn’t have involved this many people. But what’s done, is done. “Thank you for helping him.” She said to Thius, giving him a smile. “It means a lot.”
Seth smiled, everything was going to be fine now, wasn't it? He had probably even made more friends than he had already had, he had never been happier. But then, as he listened to Takei talk, he noticed something that nobody else did. It was like...Like he was bipolar or something....one miute he was nice and cheerful and then the next he was angry and cold....it was weird...
Seth brushed it off though, and regained his lost smile, running next to Takei. Takei, his friend. Boy that had a nice ring to it. Turning to everyone as he walked, he decided he wanted to know everyone a bit more.
"Well, I'm sorry that I didn't get to introduce myself a bit more. I'm Seth, and a water elemental. What about the rest of you guys?" When Rebmevons met eachother, instead of humans asking the occational 'what's your sign'?, 'what's your blood type'?, or even just 'what kinds of things are you interested in?', they would ask 'what's your power'?. It defined a person a bit more when you asked.
Dorian had frowned at the smaller man's behavior. That was... odd... it seemed as though he had almost snapped out at him, but then was apologizing. "It's fine... I guess," he said, keeping that frown on his face. Something clearly wasn't right about the boy; maybe something had happened when he had landed in the pod. He was pretty sure that there weren't any Rebmevon power that made you change personalities... maybe the Rekarts got to him first though...
Before he culd think about it any longer, he saw that Ara had walked over to him, and he smiled faintly. He knew he could count on Ara for coming. "Thanks for trying, I guess," he said with a smile. "And thanks to you too, Thius. I couldn't be more grateful." He then turned to Thius, smiling widely and nodding his head slightly for the great gesture. "But, could you guys help me up? I still can't move, so I can't go anywhere."
Another house? That might be a good idea, especially since this area was just perfect for an attack by the Government. "Alright, to your house it is," he said. He felt a bit uneasy going to a stranger's house, but he felt as though he could trust them. At the question, Dorian turned his head to the water elemental, blinking. He looked almost like a girl, and stuttered like he was as nervous as hell. Weird. "A Mentis, but the damned Rekarts made me unable to do anything with it, at least for now," he stated a bit sadly. "So I suggest that we should leave, or else they might come back."

Takei smiled a bit, nodding, and walking infront of everyone. He took no note upon tellingthe group that his doctor said that he had Dissociative Identity Disorder, or DID, where a person had multiple personalities. He didn't need to, did he? He didn't know all of the details, but perhaps he would have to tell them sooner or later.
"Its only about a block away, it should take five minutes to get there.", Takei smiled, stumbling down the alley, going with the personality in control, being more clumbsy. "So, Dorian, I guess since you're a mentis, when your powers come back, you can help me remember things? If it doesn't work, then that means I am a mentis, right?", he inquired, grinning a bit.
Covering his blue eye with his dark red hair, Takei moved forward once again. "Oh, geez, I forgot that you can't move!", he laughed slightly, moving back toward Dorian, grabbing his arm, as if he actually could pick him up, even with his size. "How'd you get like this, anyways? Is this some power another rebmevon used on you?", he questioned, pulling his arm around his shoulder.
Ooc:// It fits~ < 3 The diagnosis requires that at least two personalities routinely take control of the individual's behavior with an associated memory loss that goes beyond normal forgetfulness, and symptoms are not due to substance abuse or medical condition. In Takei's case, a medical condition. Signs and symptoms Individuals with DID demonstrate a variety of symptoms with wide fluctuations across time; functioning can vary from severe impairment in daily functioning to normal or high abilities. Symptoms can include:
-headaches and other body pains -distortion or loss of subjective time -depersonalization -amnesia -depression.
Sorry about that. I felt that it was important.
"Hm..Oh ah-ha, you're welcome... I just couldn't leave Dorian down there.. especially since he couldn't move at all," Thius responses to Ara's and Dorian's gratitude, with a faint laugh as he rubs the back of his his head once his mind snaps out of his muffin fantasy. It felt rather nice though, to be around fellow rebmevon, since it has been a while since he's been around this many at once, he could help but grin deviously.
"Huh.. we are introducing ourselves? Ah.. sorry I kind of drifted off. Well, let's see. Melanthius is the name but Mel- I mean Thius is what they call me. And I am a Shade." The man mutters as his voice gets quieter, he realized that he almost gave away the nickname he so very much /loved/. Thinking back on the origin of that nickname, he remembers his childhood friend that he dearly loved. Ah, that's right. It was nii that gave me that nickname. Pff, he only did it to bother me. Thius thought tilting his head to the side as his glasses tip to the side and gazes up at a building. Letting out a sigh, Thius dropping both his shoulders and head as he remembers all the times his friend would annoy him.
Resuming his attention to the others he said, "Ah right. You still can't move," and laughs a bit. Watching the other Rebmevon go to help Dorian, Thius makes his way toward them. "Here, I'll help as well." Grabbing the Dorian's other arm, Thius pulls his arm over his shoulder, now standing on the opposite side from where Takei was.
Ara nodded at Thius, glad that there were others she could trust on this small planet. If it weren’t for him…well Dorian would probably still be down there…or worse. But enough of those thoughts.
She tried not to smirk as she lit the ends of her fingers. “I’m Ara.” She said gently. “Fire elemental.” She shrugged as if it were nothing before stuffing her hands in her pockets, the flames out.
She still hovered close to Dorian and the others as they carried him, her hands on the edge of her pockets. If they were attacked she would be ready, and she couldn’t guarantee that it would be pretty either. It had been a while since she had been able to use this much power openly, and now she could feel it itching in her veins to be used once again.
Ara watched the streets and the people they were walking by. Any of them could be the enemy. God, she was too paranoid.
“How long do you think this is going to last?” She asked Dorian, though she knew he probably didn’t even know the answer himself. “If you wake up tomorrow and you still can’t move…” She bite her lip. What would they do? Go to a human doctor? And tell him what? ‘Yeah we are an alien race and our friend here got shot to numb his body and his power….’ Like that would go well.
“Let’s hurry.”
Takei smiled a bit, as the other two said what their powers were. What the heck was a shade? Glancing toward the girl, who stated that she was a fire elemental, he simpered. That made more sense.
“Thank you.” he murmured in a soft tone, toward Thius, as he helped him carry Dorian. “I’m Takei.” his introduction was short. After all, Takei was just Takei, and that’s all he knew. He frowned for a small moment, as that thought came to mind. He hardly knew anything about himself, which was awkward.
Here, he stood, with the last few rebmevon, and he knew nothing of the culture. His other side was sympathetic toward how much though he’d put into it. Then, he remembered they had to get into the apartment; Seth had been leading most of the way.
“It’s just up the stairs.”
